Live Q&a with Holly Webster

Holly is an Auckland-based bass and keys player, that has worked with numerous artists such as pop-funk duo Foley, alt-pop songstress THEIA, BEXY, alternative/indie artist Will Swinton, pop powerhouse Luca George, and many others. As a skilled bass player in a variety of genres such as pop, funk, jazz, RnB, she has quickly become a highly sought-after musician in the New Zealand music industry.

At only 19 years old, months after beginning a Bachelor of Commercial Music at Massey University in Wellington, Holly had the privilege to begin playing and recording with a wide array of artists across various genres, playing at venues such as TSB arena, Powerstation, and Auckland Town Hall among others. Now at 21, Holly has been booked to play multiple major New Zealand & international festivals such as Rhythm & Vines, Peachy Keen, Jim Beam Homegrown, Cuba Dupa, SXSW Austin TX, and Soundsplash. As well as being a live performer, Holly is also regularly in the studio as a session player.

You may also recognise Holly from EMA! Having been a Bass, Guitar and Piano teacher, as well as a Band Mentor at the Academy in 2022.

Holly is such an inspiration to all young musicians looking to build a career in the music industry. It was great to talk about how she has got to where she is in her career at such a young age, as well as the amazing experiences she has had to date.
