5 Tips for drummers

  1. Play along with your favourite songs. No matter what level you are at with your drumming, playing along with music is a great way to practice your beats and rudiments.

  2. Practice your Rudiments and Drum beats with a metronome. Download 'Pro Metronome' on your device for Free, or use the metronome on your Electric drum kit. It's not about how fast you can play, it's about keeping a steady tempo at no matter what speed you set. This will also be a huge help when playing along to music, or in a band setting.

  3. Actively Listen to music. Listening to music on a regular basis helps you understand how drums fit into different songs. You will also learn the song structures by doing this, which is a huge part of learning to play a song on the drums. If you know what section is coming up next, then you can be confident in playing the right part at the right time.

  4. Keep practicing the basics. No matter how long you have played drums for, always spend time on practicing your Rudiments and the Beats you first learnt. The majority of popular songs you know and love use these and the more you play them, the better they sound and the more confident you will be playing them in different situations and at different speeds. It's a great feeling when something you are playing feels easy, you can then enjoy it and perform with confidence.

  5. PLAY YOUR DRUMS! Practicing is important but spending some time PLAYING your instrument is also hugely important. Get creative, try out new things and again, put on some music you love and Rock out!
