“Playing at Anime Melodies” by Moses Sulusi

An Unforgettable Night of Anime Melodies with the Auckland Orchestra

I'm thrilled to share the incredible experience of my recent performance at the Anime Orchestrated show, where I had the honor of performing alongside three of my Sound Central band mates, including my talented brother Leni on the drums. As a devoted anime fan, this was truly a dream come true for me.

Our journey leading up to the performance was both thrilling and fulfilling. We had the privilege of two rehearsals with the renowned Auckland Orchestra, during which we meticulously crafted the fusion of our band's energy with the exquisite sound of the orchestra. The collaboration was a testament to the dedication and talent of all the musicians involved.

The excitement began to build on Friday, 16th June, as we gathered at the Auckland Town Hall. The anticipation was palpable, and the air was filled with the shared passion for anime and the power of orchestral music. It was a momentous occasion that I had been eagerly awaiting.

As a big anime fan, the setlist for the night felt like a carefully curated playlist of my personal favorites. From the enchanting melodies of Spirited Away to the epic opening theme of Attack of the Titans, the repertoire encompassed a range of emotions and showcased the beauty of anime music. Each note we played was infused with the love and passion we have for these cherished series.

As the night progressed, we delved into more beloved anime series, treating the audience to melodies from popular titles such as Genshin Impact, One Piece, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Each piece transported us into the unique worlds of these shows, evoking emotions and memories that resonated with both the performers and the audience.

However, the true highlight of the night for me was the opportunity to play my all-time favorite anime theme, Naruto. The energy in the room soared as we brought the iconic melodies to life. It was a dream come true to share the stage with the Auckland Orchestra, performing the music that has inspired me and countless others.

But the night didn't end there. The show concluded with an almighty climax as we embarked on the opening theme song of Attack of the Titans. This piece was truly challenging musically, and it pushed us to our limits. The intensity of the music matched the epic nature of the series, and we poured our hearts and souls into every note.

As the Auckland Orchestra and our band merged their talents, the room erupted with energy and passion. The soaring melodies, thunderous drums, and powerful orchestral swells created a breathtaking finale that left the audience on the edge of their seats. The collective roar of applause and cheers was a testament to the electrifying atmosphere that filled the Auckland Town Hall.

It was an unforgettable night that reminded me of the boundless joy and inspiration that anime brings. I am truly honored to have been part of this extraordinary experience, and it has only strengthened my resolve to continue sharing my love for music and anime with the world.

As I reflect on that special night at the Auckland Town Hall, I carry with me the melodies and memories that will forever ignite my soul. The Anime Orchestrated show was a reminder that dreams can become a reality, and I am forever grateful to have been a part of this symphonic journey.
