Meet Jackson Boswell

What is your first music memory?

My first noteable music memory is probably going to the Foo Fighters concert with my parents when I was 7. It was super inspiring for me to watch some really incredible musicians that I really looked up to, and was also what made me realise that music was what I was gonna do with the rest of my life!

When did you first learn an instrument? What drove you to practice and play when you first started out?
I started actual drum lessons at 5 years old (after 5 years of playing on pots and pans). I was really passionate about my instrument and was fascinated with being able to play increasingly more difficult songs. I’d hear something I really liked, and challenged myself to learn it by ear! It kept me super motivated and keen to keep growing on my instrument.

Are you still excited about developing your craft?

100%! I’m always learning and growing, setting myself new challenges and goals to complete. I never get sick of playing, it's what gets me out of bed every morning!

When did you first start teaching?

I’ve been teaching mates and family friends for years, but started teaching professionally in 2022 at Eliette’s! I absolutely love it, it's really rewarding seeing my students' genuine passion and dedication to their instrument.

What is your advice for people learning music?

Practising and learning music is hard work, so make sure to keep it fun for yourself! That way you’ll stay inspired and keen to keep working on it. Set yourself goals and fun challenges to work towards that way you’ll never get bored!
